Artist Statement:

Sarah Fairchild’s work transforms familiar botanical forms into vibrant, embellished meditations on nature’s resilience and beauty. Through layered processes involving painting, silkscreen, metallic foils, flocking, and hand-stitched elements, she elevates weeds, vegetables, and pollinators into radiant icons. Her lush, tactile compositions reflect an ecological reverence while embracing excess and ornamentation, creating a tension between fragility and power. Inspired by both the natural world and decorative arts, Fairchild explores the connections between humanity and nature, inviting viewers to reflect on what we value, preserve, and often overlook. Her art celebrates the wild, the overlooked, and the sacred within the everyday sublime.
