All artwork created at Passion Works Studio is made within a collaborative model. Core Artists, individuals with developmental differences, act as aesthetic leaders in every project and fine art piece. The process of making is very responsive-- artists of all abilities add their touch to every piece, resulting in visually striking work that highlights the talents and contributions of each participating artist. For the painting "Animal Masterpiece", core artists Fred Cremeans and Harold Heaton collaborated with Artist in Residence, Wendy Minor Viny. This work showcases the unique style and line work of the artists involved, and exemplifies the dynamic nature of artwork created within a collaborative setting.
Passion Works Studio is a collaborative art studio located in Athens, OH. Passion Works' mission is to inspire and liberate the human spirit through the arts; a studio comprised of local artists of all abilities. The studio centers around the talents and interests of a group of adult core artists with developmental differences. Since the studio's founding in 1998, Passion Works has been dedicated to fostering connection, purpose, and belonging, both within the studio and in the community at-large. Passion Works also focuses on upcycling discarded materials in the art making process. Whether it's creating wall-mounted flower sculptures made from recycled aluminum printing plates, or stretching canvases with donated fabric, Passion Works strives to showcase the process of upcycling as a means of creating a sustainable and environmentally conscious art-making practice.
