Artist Statement:

Meagan Alwood Karcic is a self-taught artist and musician living in Columbus, Ohio with her husband and Jack Russell Terrier, Rose. Her work describes the sometimes turbulent journey her life has taken, and her immense awe of the natural world. There is a subtle but forceful double face expressed in nature that continually moves her toward new experiences and influences, and compels her to constant creation. It leads her to the people that inspire her—people who have survived the complexity of life, showing strength and integrity. In creating art, she finds the purest way to communicate, to share, and to identify herself to others, as well as convey the beauty and magic she sees behind every living thing. Shakyamuni, "the best things can't be told - there are no words for this realization. And when you utter words in order to refer the mind to it, the danger is that the words will trap you and you won't go through."
