Artist Statement:

I work in many different media, clay, paper, glass, wood, metal, as I choose my medium according to the subject matter and what is on hand. “Revisiting O’Keeffe” was created after another visit to New Mexico, following her trail from Santa Fe to Ghost Ranch, Abiquiu, and Taos. Zooming in on the lily flower, not unlike O’Keefe, allows both, the artist as well as the viewer to explore its core. Although an abstracted rendering of the subject matter, the curved delineations and the raised paper corners mimic the petal quality of the flower. Pastel colors were chosen to allude to the fading beauty of all flowers while the embossed relief texture adds to the dimension of the bloom.
